Head Lice Treatments (Lice treatment)

p>Head lice are tiny annoying insects that live off of their human host s head and lice treatment neck. Living amongst the human hair head lice have about a thirty day life span. A short life span to be sure, but they make the most of it as the female louse can lay upwards of 200 eggs.

Because of the amount of eggs a female can lay in such a short period of time, it s easy to see that the head louse can infest a persons head in a very short period order.

How are infestations treated?

Hand Removal of lice and lice treatment their nits (eggs)

Evidence is available that using a special comb that has very fine teeth is one of the more effective methods of delousing.

In order to get the most out of this method it is the best to wet the hair, apply conditioner or olive oil and lice treatment methodically comb through the hair with a fine-toothed comb, called a louse comb. This method removes any lice or eggs that are in the swath path of the comb. To be effective, this process needs to be repeated for three or four days, or until there are no lice being removed by the comb.

Malathion

Malathion is a type of insecticide that works well against head lice. The method for using Malathion is to apply the Malathion to dry hair and lice treatment leave for eight hours, after the eight hours you can wash the Malathion out. If there are still lice in the hair after 7 days then you can repeat the treatment.

As with any type of chemical treatment you will want to purchase and lice treatment use pre-measured doses specifically for the removal of head lice and lice treatment follow the instructions explicitly.

Lindane

Lindane is yet another type of insecticide and lice treatment is stronger than other insecticides and lice treatment has neurotoxin chemicals so it must be used carefully. Lindane is used by applying to wet hair for only four minutes before washing out.

Although the FDA believes the benefits of Lindane outweigh the risks when used as directed, given the potential for neurotoxicity, patients should only be treated with these medications if other treatments are not tolerable or other approved therapies have failed.

Pyrethrins

Pyrethins are used in head lice shampoos and lice treatment normally make up only a third of a percent of the shampoo. This treatment involves using the shampoo as normal but leaving it in the hair for ten minutes before washing it out. You may need to use the shampoo more than once, if you do then there needs to be at least 7 days between each application.

Permethrin

Permethrin is said to work better than Lindane and lice treatment is less damaging to humans. Permethrin comes in a cr me and lice treatment only makes up one percent of the cr me. The cr me needs to be applied to the hair and lice treatment left for ten minutes before removal, if the cr me is removed to early then the lice may become resistant to the treatment rendering it useless.

Summary

These are just a few of the different treatments available with combating head lice. With natural and lice treatment manual methods, you ll have to be a bit more persistent and lice treatment patient but head lice can be removed.

With insecticides, caution and lice treatment prudence is of utmost importance. Use the dosages exactly as directed and lice treatment take all of the necessary precaution illuminated on the directions label.

Head Lice Stages and Diagnosis

p>Head lice are small, wingless parasitic insects that are found in human hairs. It also goes by the medical term pediculus humanus capitis. Although head lice can be annoying, it is not a health hazard and lice treatment is not responsible for the spread of any disease. The Centers for Disease Control do not keep track of the number of head lice cases, because it is not considered a disease. This makes it hard to determine the precise number of cases. But estimates by manufacturers of head lice products indicate that 12 to 25 million Americans get it each year.

A head louse (singular for lice) has 3 life cycle stages: nit, nymph and lice treatment adult. A nit is a head lice egg. An adult female lays a nit at the base of a hair shaft. This location keeps the nit warm before it hatches. Nits cannot hatch at room temperature. A nit hatches in about 1 to 2 weeks. A nit looks like a yellow, tan, or brown piece of dandruff. Unfortunately, unlike a piece of dandruff, a nit is firmly attached to the hair shaft and lice treatment cannot be easily removed. Nits normally come in larger numbers than nymphs or adults. Nits are also bigger and lice treatment easier to see. Nymphs are baby lice and lice treatment they become adults 7 days after hatching. An adult louse is about the size of a sesame seed. It will take on a darker color if it is found in dark hair. Both nymphs and lice treatment adults must feed on blood in order to survive. An adult louse can live up to 30 days on a human hair. It can survive for up to 2 days after falling off a human hair.

Determining if you have head lice can be made easier if you know where to look. Nits, nymphs and lice treatment adult louse are most commonly found on hairs located on the scalp, behind the ears and lice treatment at the back of the neck. On rare occasions, nits, nymphs and lice treatment adult louse can be found on the body, eyelashes, or eyebrows.

Even if you know where to look, determining if you have head lice can still be difficult. Medical research indicates that on average, children with a head lice infestation will have no more than 10 to 20 nymphs or adult lice. Because nymphs or adult lice are very small, low in number and lice treatment able to crawl around hairs pretty quickly, finding them can be a fairly difficult task. If you want to determine if a head lice infestation exists, you might want to use a magnifying glass and lice treatment bright light to make this difficult task easier.

If there are no nymphs or adult lice, the distance of the nit from the skin can determine if a head lice infestation exists. If a nit is found within a 1/4 inch from the skin, then there is a good likelihood that this person has a head lice infestation. If there are no nymphs or adults and lice treatment the nits are more than a 1/4 inch from the skin, then this is an old infestation that can be ignored. But there have been cases where a person had a few nits without actually being diagnosed as having head lice, so you should consult your doctor to make sure.
